SCD™ Soft Sleeves

SCD™ Soft Sleeve is a single patient use leg garment for use with the SCD™ Sequential Compression System (controllers 5325, 6325, and 7325). The sleeve contains three bladders to deliver circumferential, sequential and gradient compression to ensure clearance of the deep veins without the risk of distal blood trapping. The sleeve is anatomically designed with adjustable sleeve closure offering a customized fit for each patient. The sleeves are available in thigh (sterile & non-sterile) and knee length and are packaged in pairs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Question Answer
DOES THE SCD RESPONSE™ COMPRESSION SYSTEM STILL DELIVER THE CLINICALLY-PROVEN COMPRESSION TO THE LEG (45MMHG-40MMHG-30MMHG)? The SCD RESPONSE™ Compression System uses the same clinically-proven compression parameters as all previous SCD™ controllers. The eleven-second compression cycle is microprocessor-controlled to ensure 45mmHg pressure delivery at the ankle, with resulting pressures of approximately 40mmHg and 30mmHg respectively at the calf and thigh areas.
WHAT MATERIAL IS THE KENDALL SCD™ SOFT SLEEVE MADE OF? The SCD™ Soft Sleeve is made of a soft, non-woven material. The soft inner & outer liners promote patient comfort and compliance.
HOW DO I APPLY THE SCD™ SOFT SLEEVE? Application of the SCD™ Soft Sleeve is simple. The sleeves have preprinted instructions on the inner liner of each sleeve. Lift the patient’s leg and place the sleeve under the patient's leg according to the preprinted instructions. Be sure to align the open area of the SCD™ sleeve behind the knee to allow for unrestricted flow of blood through the popliteal area of the leg. Lower the patient’s leg onto the sleeve. Begin wrapping the SCD™ sleeve around the patient's leg by bringing the side of the sleeve with the "loop" material up toward the top of the leg. Start at the ankle and work your way toward the thigh portion of the leg. Second, bring the "hook" section of the sleeve around to connect with the side already in position. Be sure to use the hook & loop connections and anatomical design of the sleeve to adjust any areas of the sleeve to ensure proper fit. Each pair of sleeves comes with the Instructions For Use (IFU). Please refer to the information provided there for more clarification.
HOW DOES THE COMFORT COOLING WORK? Once activated, Comfort Cooling allows air to travel between the patient's leg and the SCD™ Soft Sleeve. This circulation of air helps cool the patient providing additional comfort to the patient.
HOW DO I ACTIVATE COMFORT COOLING? The Comfort Cooling button is located on the face plate of the SCD™ and SCD SEQUEL™ controller models #5325, 6325 and the SCD RESPONSE™ model #7325 . Simply press the button to activate Comfort Cooling. Comfort Cooling is preset to the "off" position when the controller is turned on so as to not interfere with the air quality in the Operating Room.
WHAT DO I DO WHEN A PATIENT NEEDS ONLY ONE LEG SLEEVE? The SCD™ and SCD SEQUEL™ Compression System models # 5325, 6325 and SCD RESPONSE™ controller model #7325 all operate as a closed system. Both leg sleeves are to be connected to the controller via the connection tubing set. In the event that only one leg sleeve is required, you should apply the one leg sleeve as required and leave the other sleeve in the plastic bag and slide it out of the way (under the mattress or toward the foot of the bed). The plastic bag will provide enough restriction to the "unused" sleeve and allow the system to operate properly.
